Matching Couple Tattoos: Try Them On Together First

Matching doesn't mean identical

The best couple tattoos are coordinated, not photocopied. The same design usually needs different sizes on different bodies — a piece that fits one partner's forearm may need scaling for the other's wrist. Previewing on both bodies shows you the adjustment before the stencil is printed.

Classic approaches you can test in minutes: two halves that complete each other (sun/moon, lock/key, two puzzle pieces), mirrored placement (same design, left wrist and right wrist so they align when you hold hands), matching words in the same tattoo font — or the same date in roman numerals.

Settle the arguments before the studio

Same spot or different spots? Preview both. Some couples want identical placement; others match design but choose spots that suit each body.

Visible or private? Wrists and forearms announce it; ribs and shoulder blades keep it between you. Try both variants on your photos and see which feels right.

Whose size wins? Neither — preview each body at its own proportion and let the design breathe on both.

Will it hold up? Live with both preview photos for a couple of weeks. A matching tattoo carries double the regret risk, so use double the certainty. If one of you hesitates, that's information too.

Step by step in the app

1. Each partner photographs their spot — Two phones, two photos — wrist, forearm, ankle, or wherever each of you is considering.
2. Pick the shared design — Browse together — hearts, script words, symbols, halves — or import a custom design you both love.
3. Place it on both photos — Same design on each partner's photo, scaled and rotated to suit each body.
4. Compare side by side — Put the two previews next to each other. Check mirrored placements actually mirror, and sizes feel balanced.
5. Save and book together — Export both previews and take them to the studio — the artist sizes both stencils right on the first visit.
